about

Words from Masahiko

The "memory" is a long piece of music that is the product of associating and accumulating these feelings and imagining a story from the sound itself.

The "memory" is the result of associating and accumulating this imagination,
I decided that the end of the story would be when I reached the limit of my physical strength.

To put it simply, the production method was based on the image of Shiritori, a game of word games.

What is different from Shiritori, a word game, is that I did not connect only the endings of words,
The work is to attach meaning to the myriad relationships between the previous measure and the next measure, and to link them together.
The accumulation of these elements gave birth to an unexpected story.

When I listened to the entire piece again after its completion, I was struck by the following words.

"A Mystical Journey from Fertilization to Birth".

The sound of the waves in the song is from Okinawa Island, Japan.

The sound of the waves in the song was collected at Habyan, located on the southeastern tip of Okinawa's main island, Kutaka Island. I was several kilometers away from the recorder when I collected the sound, so it is unlikely that anyone else heard it live.

The key words "noro" and "isaiho" come to mind when I think of Kutaka Island, and I feel that it is precisely because of the sounds of this mysterious island that the mental image of the island is so strongly expressed in this work.

How does this sound to you?
